PCA 2024 - A Talk With Jon Hubert - Crowned Heads
At PCA 2024, we had the pleasure of conversing with Jon Huber of Crowned Heads, a premium cigar company known for its artisanal quality, excellent flavor, balance, and consistency. Crowned Heads is inspired by a time when quality, pride, and integrity were paramount. They focus on continuous improvement, blending tradition with innovation.
During our discussion with Jon Huber, he highlighted two notable cigars from Crowned Heads: La Vereda and Habano Coroneta. These cigars exemplify the brand's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Crowned Heads - La Vereda
The Crowned Heads La Vereda cigar is a masterpiece, blending aged tobaccos to achieve an exceptional flavor and strength profile. Featuring a rare Nicaraguan shade-grown wrapper aged for over four years, it is complemented by a Nicaraguan Jalapa binder and fillers aged for a minimum of three years. These fillers include Nicaraguan Esteli Corojo ’99, Dominican Republic Piloto Cubano, Esteli seco, and Jalapa Criollo ’98 viso leaves.
Crafted meticulously by a select team of seven boncheros and seven rollers, these cigars are aged in a precisely controlled environment, maintaining 65-66°F and 68-69% humidity. Handmade in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera La Alianza, under the expertise of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., the La Vereda represents the pinnacle of artisanal cigar making.

Crowned Heads - Habano Coroneta
The Coroneta Habano boasts a silky Ecuadorian Habano wrapper paired with a Nicaraguan binder and filler, offering a blend that appeals to both traditional and modern cigar smokers. Handcrafted in Nicaragua at the NACSA factory under the expert guidance of Raul Disla, this cigar's name "Coroneta" is derived from "coronet," symbolizing a simple crown. The vitola names draw inspiration from the various crowns and ranks of British nobility from the 16th century, adding a touch of historical elegance to the smoking experience.
