Cigar Review: Cavalier Black 2 Series
The Cavalier Black Series II Robusto features a sleek box-pressed design and a firm pack. A striking 24 karat gold diamond, both edible and smokable, replaces the traditional cigar band, with a secondary band below for further identification. The Maduro wrapper showcases an even dark brown hue, free of visible oils or seams.
Sebastien Decoppet, the founder of Cavalier Geneve, does not come from a typical cigar-making lineage. A native of Switzerland, Decoppet's passion for premium cigars was sparked in his early twenties during a vacation in Honduras. He gained extensive knowledge of the cigar-making craft from the Plasencia family and spent considerable time with Adin Perez at the San Judas Tadeo Factory, where this blend and other Cavalier Geneve cigars are meticulously crafted.
The Black Series II represents the company's third product line, distinct from both the White Series and the Original Black Series. What sets the Black Series II apart is its box-pressed shape. This line features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, complemented by a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers.
The wrapper has a rough texture, even by Mexican San Andrés standards, contrasting with the smooth feel of the gold accents. This creates an unusual appearance, especially due to the prominent, shiny gold against the small, dull paper band. The wrapper's aroma is subtle, featuring notes of leather, oak, and a hint of Spanish cedar, likely influenced by the absence of cellophane and the humidor where they were stored.

Cavalier Genève cigars are meticulously handmade in Honduras by their own factory, Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco SA, located in the heart of DanlÃ. The factory is staffed by highly skilled artisans who are dedicated to producing cigars of exceptional quality. From precise fermentation processes to the careful crafting and application of their unique bands, each step is performed with the utmost care.
As a family-owned premium cigar and lifestyle brand, Cavalier Genève takes pride in its dedication to the cigar industry. Founded by Swiss native Sebastien Decoppet in DanlÃ, Honduras, the company’s journey began as a dream bridging Geneva, Switzerland, and DanlÃ. This vision has grown into a renowned family-owned enterprise with operations in Switzerland, the United States, and Honduras, distributing premium handmade cigars to over 35 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.
This story exemplifies how industry outsiders can master the craft, serving the cigar community with a passion for creating new art on a blank canvas.
